The severe thunderstorm could produce tornadoes, isolated hail up to ping-pong size and scattered gusts up to 70 mph.
A severe thunderstorm watch has now been extended across all of New Jersey as dangerous storms move through the region.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), the watch remains in effect for northern parts of the state until 8 p.m., while southern New Jersey remains under the watch through 10 p.m.
Forecasters warn that the storms could bring the potential for tornadoes, isolated hail as large as ping-pong balls, and scattered wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph. Residents are urged to stay alert and monitor weather updates as conditions could quickly change.
The National Weather Service (NWS) had earlier expanded its moderate risk area for excessive rainfall farther south and west, including areas along the I-95 corridor near Wilmington.
The NWS warned that locations within this zone could experience widespread flash flooding, with the potential for significant and dangerous flooding events.
