Massive Search Underway After Two Children Fall Into NJ River
Authorities in Passaic are conducting a search for two 10-year-old children who went missing in the Passaic River Wednesday evening, according to Mayor Hector Lora.
Emergency crews from several agencies in both Bergen and Passaic counties have deployed rescue boats and drones to help with the ongoing search efforts, the mayor said.
The children, a boy and a girl who are not related, reportedly entered the river and disappeared. A man who attempted to save them said he saw the children underwater but was unable to reach them because of the river’s powerful current.
The Wallington Fire Department announced on Facebook around 7:10 p.m. that its marine units were assisting with a water search operation in the Passaic River.
