The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Cadets, Unit One, recently returned from an unforgettable experience at the National Leadership Academy in Fairfax, Virginia — a week that offered young cadets a firsthand look at public safety, leadership, and service on a national stage.

During the Academy, cadets toured the United States Capitol, gaining insight into federal government operations and the role public safety agencies play in supporting national security. The group also visited the Fairfax County Public Safety Headquarters, where they observed an impressive demonstration by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit.

Officer Farrell represented the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office throughout the Academy, serving as a mentor and guide as cadets engaged in leadership workshops, hands-on activities, and team‑building exercises.

The Sheriff’s Office says they are proud of the cadets for representing Ocean County with professionalism and enthusiasm. The Academy is designed to build discipline, leadership skills, and a deeper understanding of careers in public safety — all qualities the cadets demonstrated throughout the trip.
