School Bus Crashes Into Ocean County Home

LAKEHURST, NJ — Two people were injured Thursday morning after a Manchester Township Schools bus collided with a pickup truck and then struck a home in Lakehurst, police said.

The crash was reported around 6:22 a.m. near Lilac Street and Union Avenue, according to Lakehurst Police Chief Matthew Kline. Police said the preliminary investigation determined that John Murray Jr., 64, of Toms River, was driving the school bus eastbound on Union Avenue. As Murray navigated a curve in the roadway, the bus crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a 2022 white Ford F-250 pickup truck.

The pickup was being driven by David Cella, 47, of Manchester, police said.

Following the collision with the truck, the school bus continued off the roadway and struck a nearby residence.

Two people were injured in the crash. Additional information about their injuries was not immediately provided.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Drivers traveling through the area were urged to use caution while emergency crews and investigators responded to the scene.
