Three Found Dead in New Jersey Home from Gunshot Wounds

Three people were found dead Friday inside a Montgomery Township home, each suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities believe the incident may have been a double murder-suicide according to post on Facebook.

Montgomery Township police received a request Thursday afternoon to conduct a welfare check at a home on Wild Azalea Lane.

Officers responded but were unable to make contact with anyone inside the residence. They then began looking into the whereabouts of the home's occupants, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.

Just before 6 p.m. Friday, officers entered the residence and discovered two women dead in separate bedrooms.

According to McDonald, both women appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds.

A man was also found dead inside the home with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, McDonald said. Investigators reportedly found a firearm near the man.

Medical personnel from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital/Somerset pronounced all three victims dead at the scene.

The investigation is being conducted by detectives with the Montgomery Township Police Department, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigation Unit and medical investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

A postmortem examination is expected to be conducted by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the victims’ identities and determine the cause and manner of death.

The identities of the three victims have not been released while officials await positive identification by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation remains active, and authorities said no additional information will be released at this time.
