Child Dies, Woman Hurt in Monmouth County Brewery Crash
UPPER FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A child was killed and a woman suffered serious injuries Saturday after the two were struck by an SUV at a farm brewery in Upper Freehold Township, according to New Jersey State Police.
The crash was reported at approximately 11:07 a.m., State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said.
Police said 66-year-old
Ellen Gabriel of Roselle Park and the child were walking through a parking lot along Emleys Hill Road when they were struck by a Chrysler SUV that was backing out of a parking space.
The child, whose age and gender were not disclosed, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
Gabriel was seriously injured and transported to a hospital for treatment, Marchan said. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
The driver of the SUV has not been identified.
While State Police did not name the business where the crash occurred,
Screamin' Hill Brewery on Emleys Hill Road announced on Facebook that it would be closed Saturday because of an emergency in the parking lot.
The farm and brewery were also closed Sunday, according to a post on the business’s
Facebook page.
According to the Bullock Farms website, the brewery and Bullock Farms have been operated by the same family for seven generations.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
