According to authorities, a 75-foot fishing boat that ran aground at Island Beach State Park on Friday night was remained trapped as of Saturday.

Assistant Chief William Rumbolo of the Seaside Heights Fire Department said his department was called to the area for mutual aid approximately 10 p.m. Friday night. He stated three persons were on board with no injuries.

Officials are baffled as to why the boat came aground.

Seaside Park Fire Department Chief Mike Tumolo, whose department assisted with the attempted removal, said the boat's members were scalloping and were heading in for the night when it went aground.
