License Renewal Begins January 1, 2022
All dog owners with canines seven months or older must apply for a dog license every year with the licensing clerk of the municipality in which they live. The owner must show confirmation that a licensed veterinarian has vaccinated the dog against rabies and that the duration of immunity from that vaccine extends for at least ten months of the twelve-month licensing term in order for the license to be awarded. If the owner shows written evidence from a licensed veterinarian that the dog cannot be vaccinated owing to a medical condition or course of therapy, an exemption to the rabies inoculation requirement will be granted.
