A Tragic Loss: 10-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot in South Jersey

According to Washington Township Police Department on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at approximately 2:34 pm, the Washington Township Police Department responded to a residence on the 400 block of Westminster Boulevard for a report of a juvenile with a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, officers and emergency medical personnel located a 10-year-old boy with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Despite lifesaving efforts, the child was tragically pronounced deceased.
The child was a student at Birches Elementary School. This incident has deeply impacted the entire Washington Township community. Counseling and support services are being coordinated through the school district for students, staff, and families affected by this heartbreaking loss.

This is an active and ongoing investigation, being conducted in coordination with the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office. No further details will be released at this time out of respect for the privacy of the family.
