After Five Years, Atlantic City Aquarium Reopens Its Doors
The Atlantic City Aquarium officially reopened on March 24, 2025, giving visitors the opportunity to see displays, dozens of marine animals, and more for the first time since March 2020.
With the pandemic, supply shortages, and other factors constantly delaying the opening date, the road to reopening has been a long and difficult one. However, it has returned in time for summer.
Groman highlights a 225-pound Loggerhead Sea Turtle among the more than 100 species on display at the Atlantic City Aquarium, which also includes diamondback turtles, southern and cow nose rays, sea horses, pipe fish, lionfish, horseshoe crabs, and many more.
The storm simulator, photo booth, and "Under the Sea" coloring area are new exhibits as of the reopening. Six hands-on touch tanks with daily touch tank feeding shows will also be opened by the Aquarium by early summer.
In May 1999, the Atlantic City Aquarium made its debut. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the building to close in March 2020. The NJ Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) provided grant cash for much-needed capital improvements prior to that closing.
The typical procedure for advancing such a project was slower than initially expected because of the pandemic. Repairs turned out to be more extensive than anticipated after development got underway. The renovation timeline was delayed as a result of this and the pandemic's effects on supply networks.
The Aquarium is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. Prices for admission and further details are available
