Two Bank Robberies in Toms River Under Investigation

Two Men in Stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee

After two males in a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee looked to be seeking for houses/cars to rob, police advise locals to lock their homes and vehicles.

Police in Toms River are warning locals to secure their cars and houses as they look into reports of two males allegedly driving through neighborhoods looking for targets for theft.

Around 3:30 pm on Sunday, the police received a number of phone complaints from people reporting a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee that was driving slowly through the North Maple Avenue and New Hampshire Avenue communities in Toms River.

According to the 911 callers, there were two black men driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee who looked to be canvassing the neighborhood and may have tried to break into a resident's car on Donna Dee Court but were unsuccessful.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee was then spotted driving north on the Garden State Parkway after being sighted on New Hampshire Avenue as it approached Lakewood. According to Toms River police, it was later discovered that the car had been reported stolen from Old Bridge.

Police requested anyone with information to get in touch with the Toms River Police Department.

The Lakewood Scoop published video of a man fitting that description stepping out of a gray Jeep that was parked at the curb of a house during the day. In the driveway of the house next door, where two cars were parked, a man got out and sprinted across the front lawn.
