Apple Juice Recall Due to Arsenic Concerns: Sold In Walmart Stores

More than 9,500 cases of apple juice that tested higher over the Food and Drug Administration's recommended limits for naturally occurring arsenic are being removed from Walmart's shelves in New Jersey and other locations.

According to the FDA, Walmart's Great Value 8-ounce 100 percent apple juice in 6-packs, packed in 8-ounce PET plastic bottles, is being recalled. The impacted products have a UPC code of 0-78742-29655-5 and a Best If Used By date of December 28, 2024.

Because the "product contains inorganic arsenic above action level set in industry guidance," the juice is being recalled.

Along with 26 other states—AL, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MS, NC, NH, NY, OH, PA, PR, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WV—it is being recalled from the 62 locations in New Jersey.

Constant arsenic poisoning manifests as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Cleveland Clinic states that skin changes like pigmentation and lesions might result from prolonged contact.
