According to the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office, A former teacher at Wall Township High School has been arrested and criminally charged with having a sexual relationship with a student.
In a joint statement, Wall Township Police Chief Sean O'Halloran and Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced that Julie Rizzitello, 36, of Brick Township, a former English teacher at Wall High School, was charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, and three counts of witness tampering.
Authorities reported that Rizzitello had resigned from her role as a teacher earlier in the week.
The investigation's catalyst was not disclosed by the authorities. With assistance from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Brick Township Police Department, detectives from the Wall Township Police Department and the Special Victims Bureau of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office discovered that Rizzitello's alleged criminal activity started earlier this year, according to the authorities.
According to the authorities, Rizzitello "engaged in various sexual acts with the victim" at least three times in the cities of Wall, Brick, and Belmar.
According to officials, Rizzitello was taken into custody on Wednesday and is currently being held at the Monmouth County jail until his detention hearing in Monmouth County Superior Court.
