Barnegat Man Found Guilty of Killing 6-Year-Old Son

According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, in relation to the 2021 death of his 6-year-old son, a Barnegat father was found guilty of aggravated manslaughter on Friday.

After a six-week trial, during which the jury found that Christopher Gregor, 32, "recklessly" caused the death of his son, Corey Micciolo, Gregor was found guilty. Prosecutors added that he was also found guilty of endangering the welfare of a kid.

Following Micciolo's passing on April 2, 2021, Stafford Township police officers were called to Southern Ocean Medical Center. Micciolo had blunt force trauma injuries prior to his death, an autopsy indicated.

Prosecutors claim that on March 20, 2021, Gregor made Micciolo run on a treadmill, causing the blunt force injury that ultimately resulted in his death. According to an affidavit, it was revealed that Gregor was seen in a video of the incident setting his son's pace on the treadmill. Gregor grabbed the child by the shirt after he fell off the treadmill and made him run repeatedly.

Experts testified during Gregor's trial that the boy also had lacerations to his heart and liver, as well as an acute traumatic damage to the heart four to twelve hours before to the boy's death. There was proof that the child had been abused repeatedly.

An affidavit states that the two parents reported 14 incidents that caused harm to their child to the New Jersey Division of Child Permanency and Protection.

Almost a year after the boy's death, Gregor was taken into custody and charged. Since his arrest, he has stayed in the Ocean County Jail.

August 2 is when Gregor is expected to be sentenced. A potential term of thirty years in prison is awaiting him.
