As summer-like heat waves arrive in New Jersey this week, forecasters warned that thunderstorms, flooding, hail, and even isolated tornadoes are possible.
Tuesday is predicted to see "high temps well above normal," per the
National Weather Service.
Light surface winds will cause temperatures to drop significantly close to the coast, the weather agency continued.
According to AccuWeather, the region will experience dry skies until Wednesday and Thursday morning before showers, locally strong thunderstorms, and a risk of flooding arrive on Thursday.
Evening commuters should be ready for delays and disruptions as the storms may bring hail, damaging winds of up to 65 mph, and heavy downpours.
The National Weather Service said that further rains and maybe thunder are expected late Friday into Saturday, especially in South Jersey.
