Body Discovered in South Toms River During Wellness Check
At a residence in South Toms River, police said Monday that they discovered a person's body in "an advanced condition of decomposition" while conducting a wellness check.
The deceased was not identified by South Toms River Police Chief Michael Schneidt at the time of print.
The wellness check was performed by police at the Flint Road residence on Monday afternoon. Several authorities responded, including paramedics and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation team, according to reports on local radio scanner sites.Because of the advanced decomposition, Berkeley Township Haz-Mat also responded for safety reasons, according to Schneidt.
According to Schneidt, the public was never in risk.
