In Atlantic County, New Jersey, a man who prevented two kids from drowning in the Great Egg Harbor River has passed away.

The 49-year-old Pablo Hernando Cruz of Mays Landing has been identified.

This incident took place in Hamilton Township's Weymouth Furnace County Park. Two kids allegedly went swimming there, which is against the rules. There are several signs warning people not to swim that are posted in both Spanish and English.

The kids began to have some trouble in the water, according to the investigators. Cruz is said to have entered at that point to assist them.

According to the authorities, Cruz managed to pull the kids out of the water and bring them safely ashore.

But Cruz later found himself underwater. Although he was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, authorities announced his death early on Thursday morning.

Authorities claim that a 23-year-old man drowned in this park in June 2021.

Swimming in the water is risky since many people are unaware of how deep the water is, according to county officials.
