Brave Rescue: Sailor Saved in Barnegat Bay

According to the U.S. Coast Guard , a boater in Barnegat Bay discovered a capsized sailboat and pulled the man who was in charge of it out of the sea.

At 5:36 p.m., the man who saved the sailor called mayday to watchkeepers at the Coast Guard's Sector Delaware Bay.

The crew of a 29-foot response boat from U.S. Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light received the troubled mariner. According to a statement from the U.S. Coast Guard, the individual, who was wearing a life vest, did not sustain any serious injuries.

“The fact that the mariner was wearing a life jacket, had a radio, and a good Samaritan was willing to step in and help made all the difference,” said Chief Petty Officer Matthew Whitlow, the executive petty officer of Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light.
