A Seaside Heights eatery that will be demolished will have served up 36 years of sweet morning memories before closing its doors.

After the 2022 summer season, Bobber's Family Restaurant in Seaside Heights, known for its Mickey Mouse pancakes and friendly service, closed its doors after a long run. The restaurant was run by the family of former mayor William Akers and was named for his son, whose unexpected death in 2014 cast a pall over the neighborhood.

The restaurant's building at 906 Boulevard near the intersection with Sherman Avenue is to be demolished thanks to money from a state grant, the borough council voted in favor of. If certain requirements are met, the $1 million grant from Trenton may be used to raze privately owned enterprises.
