According to authorities, three robbers broke into two homes through unlocked first-floor windows, stole a 2022 BMW from one, and woke the owner of the other.
One of the two burglaries that took place in Toms River early on Tuesday had been caught on camera, according to Toms River Police.
The three burglars can be seen in the footage going through the home's kitchen and living room while opening drawers and, it appears, considering what they can steal.
The three robbers have their faces mostly covered and were wearing gloves as they twice directly face the camera.
Tuesday just before 6 a.m. the first break-in at a home on Hickory Street occurred, according to Jillian Messina, a media relations specialist with the Toms River Police Department. The thieves stole a 2022 BMW M8 after searching through kitchen drawers and removing four sets of keys, according to her.
The second break-in took place at a house on
Tall Ship Court approximately an hour later while the owners were upstairs sleeping, said Messina. According to Messina, one of the homeowners found a robber standing over her bed when she woke up and he and the others were scared off.
The three men were wearing hoodies and face masks. Police are asking anyone with information to email jmastronardy@trpolice.org.
