The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday that Ashli Crespo Galanos, 28, and Vanessa Orozco-Carbarcas, 36, both of Toms River, perished in the collision that occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. on September 11. According to the prosecutor's office, a man and a 4-year-old boy who were hurt have been discharged from the hospital. They did not reveal their names. Family and friends remember a woman from Toms River for her love and presence for those in her life.
Galanos was driving a 2025 Toyota Rav4 north on Hooper Avenue when a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox traveling south on the same street crossed the grass median and collided with her vehicle. She was declared deceased at the spot when her Toyota flipped over and landed in the woods on the east side of Hooper Avenue.
According to the prosecutor's office,
Orozco-Carbarcas was a passenger in the Equinox that the 46-year-old male was driving. She was transferred to
Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she was declared deceased. According to a spokesperson, the boy was traveling in the backseat of the Equinox.
According to her obituary on the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals
website, Galanos' family was remembering her for "her heart, her infectious grin, her booming laugh, her unshakeable loyalty and the way she loved and showed up for all those she loved and cared for."
