Ocean County Animal Facilities will take part in the annual "Clear the Shelters" pet adoption campaign over the entire month of August.
The Ocean County Commissioner and liaison to the Ocean County Board of Health, Gary Quinn, stated in a press release that "The Clear the Shelter event is our biggest adoption event of the year and it simply continues growing more popular." Every summer, we appreciate all the locals and tourists who make a point of stopping by our facilities to look for the ideal pet for their house and family.
Despite the epidemic, Ocean County shelters had a fantastic year in 2021, according to the Ocean County Health Department. According to OCHD, 114 dogs and cats were able to find loving homes last year. This year, there are even more options available, particularly kittens since summer is traditionally kitten season in animal shelters.
The adoption fees for all animals at the Ocean County Animal Facilities will be cut in half from August 27 to August 31. A free goodie bag with snacks and toys will also be given to each individual who adopts a pet.
Every cat and dog that is up for adoption gets a vet checkup, the necessary immunizations for their age, is spayed or neutered, and is chipped, according to OCHD.
The Southern Ocean County Animal Facility, which is located at
360 Haywood Road in Manahawkin, and the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, which is located at
615 Freemont Avenue in Jackson, will both be hosting the Clear the Shelter event. Both facilities are run by the Ocean County Health Department.
