The Competition Aims to Highlight Flooding Risks to Coastal Communities
Artists in Toms River are being encouraged to apply for a competitive award program that aims to raise awareness about the dangers of coastal towns being flooded due to sea-level rise or coastal storms.
The NJ Coastal Management Program and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts are in charge of the NJ Climate Resilience Public Art Projects 2022 program.
Each commissioned artwork will get a $7,000 stipend from the program.
Any kind of art — visual, literary, performative, new media, and so on — will be considered as long as the project causes no additional environmental disturbance and has no negative impact on environmentally sensitive places.
Artists who collaborate may apply as a group, but must submit a single application for the group and accept the $7,000 stipend as the project's total funds, including artist fees for all team members.
The deadline to apply is midnight Jan. 24. More information and the application are available here.
