Coastal Storm Threatens New Jersey This Weekend

According to the National Weather Service, forecasters predict a coastal storm in the Garden State during the first full weekend of September.

Sunday marked the official start of meteorological fall, with cool, dry weather welcoming in the new month. However, forecasts caution that that could alter this weekend.

The National Weather Service predicts that through Friday, temperatures will remain mostly in the upper 70s.

It appears that the coastal storm and the cold front moving in from the west will not coincide, as predicted by forecasters. However, according to National Weather Service forecasters, Saturday is still predicted to be a rainy day with a few isolated to scattered thunderstorms.

Flash floods could occur if the rain exceeds one to two inches, according to AccuWeather meteorologists.

AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys stated, "It's not out of the question that this storm could bring drenching downpours in addition to a 12-hour period of soggy weather."

On this point of view, the National Weather Service was slightly different. According to the forecasters, "this Saturday system appears to be just some beneficial rain."

Another stretch of chilly, dry weather extends past the showers until the next week.
