Chilly Forecast: A Week of Rain in NJ
According to National Weather Service, NJ will be inundated with intervals of rain and drizzle starting from Sunday evening until the middle of this week, so if you enjoyed the weather on Sunday, perhaps you made the most of it.
The upcoming week is expected to bring plenty of April showers, rain, and drizzle; from Monday through Wednesday, 1 to 3 inches of rain are predicted. After that, sporadic showers and even a few snow showers will add to the already cool and wet weather pattern that begins the new month.
This time of year, our typical high barely reaches the upper 50s, but we'll be in the 40s for the majority of the coming week, with occasional gusty winds.
Before the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, there will be plenty of low temperatures, rain, and even a few flurries. A warm-up is expected to begin next weekend, and initially it appears to be dry and warmer.
Monday is the first day of April, and unless you enjoy a mix of clouds, winds, rain, chilly temperatures, and maybe even a few snowflakes (late in the week), the weather for the first week of April seems very gloomy.
Although Tuesday and Wednesday will most likely end up that way, Monday won't be a washout. On Monday, the morning should be the wettest period of the day with some rain and drizzle continuing from Sunday night.
The heavier downpour should subside by lunchtime and continue throughout the afternoon and evening, although there will still be mostly gloomy skies and possibly some sporadic precipitation. Temperature highs will range from the upper 40s to about 50 degrees.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be the wettest of our erratic week, with periods of heavier rain and some drizzle expected for the majority of the two days. Particularly on Tuesday, there will be a strong onshore breeze together with some very low temperatures in the low to mid-40s, which will make it feel very cold and unforgiving.
We'll get some scattered rain and possibly even some snow showers on Thursday, and possibly a few lingering ones on Friday, as a powerful coastal low intensifies off the New England coast, bringing major late-season snows to sections of New England and Upstate New York to our north.
Although the weather will be drier than it was during the first part of the week, it will still be chilly with uncharacteristically low highs in the 40s and gustier winds coming from behind our storm.
