If you thought Tropical Storm Henri was bad, with localized floods and over 8 inches of rain in certain parts across the state, brace yourself for another storm on the way.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Ida strengthened from tropical storm status Friday morning as Gulf Coast states prepared for a direct hit from the storm, with forecasters warning residents that it could quickly intensify into one of the most severe storms of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season.
Ida, like other storms this hurricane season, is expected to decrease to a tropical depression after the weekend, according to forecasters. However, because to the current route of Ida, remnants are once again probable for the northeast, including New Jersey, according to private meteorologists and the National Weather Service.
Tropical moisture linked with its uplift might bring another wave of heavy showers and thunderstorms by Tuesday or Wednesday, and possibly Thursday, according to the weather agency.
Forecasters and meteorologists believe that the storm is still "days out" to estimate any potential repercussions on New Jersey at this time and they will be keeping a watch for what is expected for New Jersey.
