Dad Accidentally Shoots 13-Year-Old Daughter
On May 24, 2025, Edgar Baerga, 47, of Stafford Township, was charged with Aggravated Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in connection with an incident that occurred in Stafford Township on May 24, 2025.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, Baerga is facing charges after shooting his 13-year-old daughter in the torso while cleaning his firearm.
After receiving a 911 call regarding a girl who had been shot in the right side of her torso, officers arrived at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Stafford at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, according to officials.
Authorities claim that while Baerga was cleaning the gun at his house, it discharged and a bullet struck the girl. Baerga then drove her to the hospital and called the police.
According to authorities, the child was then transferred to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where she was listed in stable condition.
