Disturbing News: Teen Arrested for Stabbing Mother in South Jersey
A teenager who is suspected of fatally stabbing his mother at their South Jersey apartment has been taken into custody by the authorities.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, the 17-year-old kid from Mays Landing was arrested on Saturday. He is accused of murder, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Since the youngster is being charged as a juvenile, his name is being withheld.
A minor was found in possession of a knife at the Meadowbrook Condos in Mays Landing, according to a 911 call made at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday. Julissa Serrano, 49, was discovered inside a condo unit with several stab wounds when police arrived, according to officials.
Authorities reported that she was later declared deceased at AtlantiCare Medical Center. The Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office has not yet completed an autopsy.
How Serrano's son was identified as the suspect was not disclosed by the prosecution. While he awaits his initial court appearance, he is being detained in Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center.
