Double Trouble: Dual Storms Set Sights on NJ

According to the National Weather Service, This week, there is a chance for two distinct waves of localized flooding due to showers, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall.

There may be sporadic showers and thunderstorms to the north and west of the I-95 corridor until early to mid-afternoon. By sunset, though, everything will have changed.

The National Weather Service states that as the day wears on, there is a greater chance of rain. The extreme northwest portion of the Garden State may have heavy rainfall during this round, while it is not expected to be particularly severe.

Storms Approaching in NJ

According to the forecast, there could be further storms on Wednesday and Thursday. The rest of the week is expected to be hot and muggy.

The majority of the state is expected to get showers and storms with significant downpours on Friday and Saturday, increasing the potential of flash floods. This poses a bigger concern.

WEATHER ALERT: Small Craft Advisory is in Effect Until Wed 7:00 pm EDT in Ocean County:

WHAT...South winds 10 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt and seas 3 to 5 ft.

WHERE...Coastal waters from Sandy Hook to Manasquan Inlet NJ out 20 nm, Coastal waters from Manasquan Inlet to Little Egg Inlet NJ out 20 nm, Coastal waters from Little Egg Inlet to Great Egg Inlet NJ out 20 nm and Coastal waters from Great Egg Inlet to Cape May NJ out 20 nm.

WHEN...Until 7 PM EDT Wednesday.

IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions.
