Elevated Risk for the Spread of Wildfires in NJ
According to New Jersey Forest Fire Service the US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly and US National Weather Service New York NY have issued a Special Weather Statement for the elevated risk for the spread of wildfires in New Jersey today.
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT:
There is an elevated risk for fire spread this afternoon across most of New Jersey and Delaware. Minimum relative humidity values will drop to between mostly 25 and 35 percent this afternoon, and southwesterly winds will increase to 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
These conditions, along with the continued drying of fine fuels, could support the rapid spread of any fires that ignite, which could quickly become difficult to control. The winds will diminish tonight and the relative humidity will also increase.
