Emergency Response: Five Rescued from Sinking Boat at Jersey Shore

According to the U.S. Coast Guard five passengers were safely returned to shore on Sunday after being rescued from a sinking boat by a group of good samaritans.

About three miles east of Elberon, on Sunday, another ship (dubbed "The Gambler") discovered a sinking boat with five individuals sitting on its hull, according to the spokeswoman.
One of the individuals on board the sinking ship was rescued by the Gambler once they discovered it, while the other four were rescued by a different ship of good samaritans.

The spokesperson added that a NJ State Police boat and a 29-foot Response Boat from the neighboring Station Manasquan Inlet were subsequently sent to the location.

No injuries were recorded, and they assisted in bringing all five of the seafarers back to the Shark River Municipal Pier. They dragged the sinking boat to land.
The Gambler's operator, Captain Bob Bogan, told the Asbury Park Press, "We stopped, lowered our rescue ladder, and got one of them onto the boat." "An additional individual in a Mako arrived simultaneously and rescued the remaining men from the water."

"The Coast Guard arrived quite rapidly," he added. "They successfully brought everyone back to shore."
