Expect Frigid Wind Chills and Snow Showers in New Jersey

A tenth of an inch of snow was reported in sections of Morris and Sussex counties on Tuesday, marking the first snowfall in some regions of New Jersey this season. Two locations in Sussex measured one inch of snow.

With somewhat warmer readings of low to mid-30s along the coast and mid-to-upper 30s in the Newark metro area, overnight lows will fall into the upper 20s to mid-30s inland.

Despite the low temperatures, analysts indicated that the constant winds will prevent the formation of frost.

According to the National Weather Service, a weak frontal system is expected to arrive on Wednesday, bringing with it somewhat moderating weather. While gusty west-southwest winds with gusts of 20 to 25 mph will persist, highs will rise into the mid- to upper 40s inland and low 50s along the coast.
The most of the day should be clear and dry, with the exception of a possible stray shower in the state's far northwest.

There will be a wind shift to the northwest and possibly somewhat greater gusts on Thursday as a weak front passes through late Wednesday and into Thursday. Thursday's high temperatures will once more be in the mid 40s to low 50s.

High pressure will enter the area on Friday and Saturday, bringing with it dry weather and temperatures that are just below seasonal averages.
With the possibility of light rain, a frontal system is predicted to travel across New Jersey on Sunday and into early Monday after approaching on Saturday night.

Although freezing rain is not anticipated, inland locations may experience a brief period of light snow late Saturday night before switching to pure rain.

Although the precise date of the front's passage is uncertain, Sunday's temperatures will rise to slightly above average behind a warm front, which might affect peak temperatures in various areas of the state. Check the local forecast.
