A heat advisory will be in effect for the majority of New Jersey through Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service reports that this advisory is in effect for the entire state, with the exception of the shore communities in Monmouth and Ocean counties, as well as Atlantic and Cape May counties. A watch for extreme heat is in effect through Sunday.

Tuesday's high will be in the low to mid-90s across most of New Jersey, with the exception of the shoreline. The heat index will make it feel as though it is up to 99 degrees, according to forecasters.
