Fatal Crash in South Jersey: Two Teens Killed
Two teenagers were recognized by state police as having died in a crash in Gloucester County on Sunday that also left a woman and four children hurt.
According to authorities, two 19-year-old Franklinville residents,
Brendan Cary and
Dominic Reyes, perished in a three-vehicle collision on Route 55 in Glassboro on Sunday afternoon.
The superintendent of the Delsea Regional School District said that Reyes was a recent graduate and that Cary attended Franklinville's Delsea Regional High School.
Superintendent Fran Ciociola wrote to the school community, "Our school family is heartbroken, and our thoughts are with their families, friends, and all who knew and loved them." "We also recognize that this accident has impacted families beyond our school community, and our hearts go out to everyone affected."
According to State Police spokesperson Sgt. Charles Marchan, the collision occurred on Route 55 North at 4:17 p.m.
According to
NJ State Police , Cary's car struck the left-back corner of a Honda CRV in the right lane with its right-front corner.
Cary lost control of his direction and crossed into the shoulder, colliding with a disabled Dodge minivan that then toppled.
The minivan driver and a 17-year-old in Cary's car suffered "serious" injuries. As of Monday morning, their condition was unknown. Three young people were slightly hurt in the Dodge.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
