Fatal Crash in Toms River Leaves Two Women Dead
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office reported Friday that a two-vehicle collision on Hooper Avenue Thursday night claimed the lives of two women and injured two more, including a 4-year-old child..
According to the
Ocean County Prosecutors Office, the collision occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. at Hooper Avenue and Fischer Boulevard.
According to authorities, a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox struck a 2025 Toyota Rav4 after crossing the grass median on Hooper Avenue while traveling south. Authorities stated the Toyota rolled over after the impact and landed in the woods on the east side of Hooper Avenue.
Authorities reported that the Toyota's driver, a 28-year-old woman, was declared deceased at the scene.
Injured were the 46-year-old driver of the Chevrolet and a 4-year-old boy in the rear seat. According to the prosecutor's office, both were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and were determined to be stable.
According to the prosecutor's office, an adult female passenger in the Chevrolet was transported to
Community Medical Centerin Toms River but was later declared deceased there. Her age was unavailable.
The identities of the four individuals were not further disclosed.
The Ocean County Sheriff's Office issued traffic advisories Thursday night stating that the collision forced the closure of Hooper Avenue's northbound lanes for approximately four hours. Around 1 am, the road was once again open.
According to the prosecutor's office, the
Toms River Police Department and the
Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad are still investigating the collision.
