Fatal Hit and Run in NJ

State Police Seeking Public's Assistance with Pedestrian Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash

The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with a fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle crash investigation that occurred on US Highway 40 eastbound near milepost 20.5 in Pittsgrove Township, Salem County. on Saturday, September 28.

Based on an investigation at the scene, detectives determined that at approximately 2:26 a.m., a white sedan was traveling eastbound on US Highway 40 when it struck a pedestrian, Allen Miller Jr., a 45-year-old man from Vineland, NJ, and fled the scene. As a result of the crash, Miller sustained fatal injuries.

On October 2, through various investigative methods, detectives identified and arrested Christopher Poore, 23, at his residence in Bridgeton, NJ. Poore was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death and Tampering with Evidence. He was released pending a future court date.
