Fatal Vehicle Crash in Ocean County Leaves One Dead and Four Injured

According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, the Manchester Township Police were called to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash at around 8:15 a.m. on August 11, 2025, in the vicinity of Hilltop Road and Route 70. Two motor vehicles were involved in the collision, according to the responding officers.

A 2014 Dodge van carrying a driver and three passengers was traveling west on Route 70 when it collided with a 2017 Ford Sprinter van that was also traveling west on the same route, according to an investigation conducted by the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Manchester Township Police Department, and Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad.

The Dodge van went over the double yellow line, passed stopped traffic from behind, and struck the Ford van as it was trying to turn left into Hilltop Road. The three people in the Dodge van's front seats were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune to receive medical attention after the collision. It was determined that the fourth person inside the van, who was sitting in the cargo area, had died at the scene. The Ford van's driver was sent to Toms River's Community Medical Center for minimal medical care.
The motor vehicle crash remains under investigation.
