According to Waretown Volunteer Fire Department, they responded to the Greenbriar section of town for a smoke investigation inside the home.

As fire department units were responding the Ocean Township Police Department updated them that they had a working fire in a bedroom of the home. Deputy Chief Hurley upgraded the assignment to his first alarm (working fire assignment) that brings Forked River Fire Department for a RIT team and ladder truck as well as Barnegat Fire Department for their ladder truck.

The fire was extinguished shortly after arrival, with no reported injuries.
They want to draw attention to the pictures that are linked on their facebook page. If you've been following them for a while, you've probably seen their posts about shutting bedroom doors at home, especially while you're sleeping.

This allows the fire, smoke and heat to compartmentalize in one area. Normally outside of bedrooms to allow occupants to escape but in this case you can visually see the closed doors held the fire, smoke and heat inside the room causing major damage inside the room but relativly minimal damagege in the living space.

Had these doors been open prior to the fire. The fire would have extended into the living space and other parts of the home rapidly, causing major damage and cutting off escape routes.

The fire cause and origin is being investigated by the Ocean County Fire Marshals Office. At this time it does not appear suspicious in nature.
