Firefighters Battle Large Brush Fire in Ocean County
According to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office, they are assisting this evening from a sizable brush fire in the Pine Barrens west of Route 9, but no evacuations have been ordered as of yet.

The public was notified via a "urgent" text message alert by the sheriff's office that the wildfire was burning near the Garden State Parkway, which runs along the Berkeley-Beachwood municipal boundary.
According to New Jersey Forest Fire Service, the fire is named Fishers Pit Wildfire
At approximately 10:14 pm Monday, The New Jersey Forest Fire Service remains on scene of a wildfire burning in the area of Northern Blvd in Berkeley Twp, Ocean County. When firefighters arrived on scene initial attack efforts were unsuccessful due to erratic fire behavior.
