Firefighters Respond to Accidental
Residential Fire in Toms River

According to Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention on February 13, 2025, at approximately 7:00 AM, the Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department, along with Silverton, East Dover, and Whitesville Fire Departments, responded to a reported structure fire on Aviary Way.

First arriving units discovered a working fire with flames extending through the roof of a mobile home. It was soon determined that the occupant had left the home for the day, however, five cats remained inside the structure.
Assistant Chief Hafner (3010) established command, directing fire units to stretch an 1 ¾“ hose line to extinguish the fire and conduct primary search operations.

Fire personnel quickly placed the fire under control within 15 minutes and remained on the scene for approximately two hours.

No injuries were reported, and all five cats were safely located and removed from the home.

The fire investigation is being conducted by Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention, Inspectors LaVigne and Oeskovic. Preliminary findings indicate that the fire originated in the kitchen area and is believed to be accidental in nature.
