Firefighters Respond to Blaze in East Dover

According to Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention, East Dover Fire Company, Island Heights Volunteer Fire Co. 1, and Toms River Fire Company 2 workers responded to a reported structure fire on Weeping Willow Court in the East Dover neighborhood of town on Friday at around 2:00 pm.

Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the side of a two-story single-family house when they arrived. To put out the fire, crews used one 1.75" hose line and a water fire extinguisher. The home's façade was the only area affected.

The Toms River Building Department responded and posted the structure unsafe to occupy due to the loss of electric and gas utilities. There were no injuries reported.

The fire investigation and scene examination were conducted by Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention Inspectors Herbst and LaVigne.

The circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire have been ruled accidental, caused by a failure of energized electrical equipment located on the side of the home.

For further information or inquiries regarding this incident, please contact the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention, Chief Inspector Janora at TRFirePrevention@trfire.org or (732) 240-5153.
