Fishers Pit Wildfire Update: 70% Contained in Berkeley Twp

According to New Jersey Forest Fire Service they continues to work to contain a wildfire burning in the area of Northern Blvd in Berkeley Twp, Ocean County.

The Fishers Pit Wildfire was first spotted from Cedar Bridge Fire Tower at 4:44 p.m. on Sept. 9, 2024. When crews responded, the fire was burning inside the area known as Fisher’s Pit where initial attack efforts were initially unsuccessful due to erratic fire behavior. Fire crews made good progress today strengthening containment lines and conducting backfire and burnout operations. Additionally, crews continue to secure and reinforce containment lines by mopping up hot spots alongside the fire’s perimeter. Smoke continues to impact the neighboring communities along the fire’s perimeter.
