Forecast Predicts Slight Chance of Snow Showers on Friday Night

Northern New Jersey may see light snow showers late Friday night into early Saturday morning. Although there won't be much accumulation, untreated surfaces may become slick.

According to AccuWeather and the National Weather Service forecasters, the snow showers will primarily impact locations north and along the Interstate 78 corridor and will originate from a weak clipper-type storm system that is now sweeping through the area.

Despite minor accumulations, forecasters warned that any snowfall would happen when temperatures were in the teens to low 20s, which may make untreated roads and other surfaces slick.

Where snow does fall, meteorologists predict it will only be a few tenths of an inch at most, and many places may stay dry as the system passes over the area swiftly.

Conditions are expected to dry out for the remainder of Saturday after the snow showers stop just after daybreak. According to the meteorological service, Friday will be dry and cold with highs in the 30s and mostly sunny skies as a northwest wind gradually fades throughout the day.

On Saturday, daytime highs in northern New Jersey will be in the upper 30s, while in southern New Jersey, they will be in the mid-40s.

Another chance of precipitation is expected on Sunday and Monday, mostly affecting New Jersey's coastal regions. Since the majority of a low pressure system is predicted to move south of our area, the weather service states that there is just a slim chance of substantial snow accumulation.
