The Toms River Police Department works diligently to protect the residents of Toms River, New Jersey.  Officers serves to maintain law and order in local areas by protecting members of the public and their property, preventing crime, reducing the fear of crime and improving the quality of life for all citizens.

The Chief of Police is Mitchell A. Little who is a lifelong resident of Toms River.  He has instituted various programs including: 

• Class III SLEO Program, placing an armed officer in all 15 schools in Toms River.
• Cadet Program, introducing our youth ages 14 to 21 to law enforcement
• Youth Camp to 50 kids per year for a week long police academy style experience
• Bigs in Blue, where our officers are mentors for children of single parent households
• Project Aware, to educate youth on the dangers of addiction
• Water Gun Battle with our TR Youth Center kids
• Cookies With a Cop in every elementary school
• Operation Brain Freeze, to promote bicycle safety
• Coffee With a Cop, monthly with our residents.
• Department Open House, Semi Annually
