On Monday December 4th, approximately 9:30 am, Vinny was on his way home after celebrating his best friend's birthday.
Later we received a phone call no one is ever prepared for. Our dear friend Vinny was in a very serious accident. There was no eye witness other than a gentleman who was able to pull over and help our friend and dial 911. From what we do know Vinny somehow hit a pole, completely totaling his car, and as a result has the following injuries.
Vinny's Pelvis is broken, his Femur pushed into his socket causing it to break in multiple spots, 2 brain bleeds, and a concussion. He was rushed to Jersey Shore Hospital.
From there he was evaluated in the ICU and reunited with his guardian, his grandmother who was getting ready for her own mothers wake the next day.
With that being said Vinny’s grandmother is trying to balance being by Vinny’s side but also preparing for her mothers funeral. With Vinny not having medical insurance, us friends are trying in any way to help him and his grandmother through this incredibly difficult time.
As of morning Tuesday December 5th, Vinny went into surgery for his broken Pelvis. He now is in recovery with plates and screws to repair his injuries.
His brain is being monitored for the bleeds and concussion for the next few weeks. From what we know now is no pressure on his legs for 6 weeks and no walking for up to 6 months. Then following up with physical therapy. Vinny has been extremely disoriented and cannot remember what happened.
Vinny is an extremely hard worker, balancing multiple jobs trying to make a better life for himself. That all comes to a halt with all of the injuries and physical therapy he will be needing.
It is very difficult to see our friend who's always making us laugh and smile, be in so much pain and agony. Vinny is the kind of kid that can become friends with anyone, has the biggest heart, and will always be there when you need him.
