Heartbreaking News: Point Pleasant Resident Drowns in Manchester Reservoir

According to authorities, a 55-year-old man from Point Pleasant perished on Saturday in an undisclosed reservoir in the township that supplies a cranberry farm in adjacent Whitesbog.

According to a statement from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, which is in charge of the state parks, at 7:35 p.m., New Jersey State Park Police, Manchester Township Police Department, Manchester fire and EMS, and Manchester fire and EMS were called to the reservoir in Brendan T. Byrne State Park on the suspicion of a possible drowning.

No other information was provided by the New Jersey DEP. A request for information was not answered by Manchester police.

In state parks and forests in New Jersey, swimming is only allowed in designated areas that have lifeguards on duty. There is no reservoir on the list.
