Bob Popovics ran the Shady Rest. Restaurant for nearly 60 years

After suffering injuries in a hit-and-run accident in September, the beloved owner of a well-known restaurant in Bayville passed away.

For almost 60 years, Bob Popovics operated Bayville's Shady Rest Restaurant.

On September 23, a car hit the 75-year-old in Seaside Heights, seriously injuring him.

Popovics was badly injured just after he and his wife celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.

On October 30, he was moved to hospice care.

Popovics was struck by a vehicle and the driver was identified as Genell McInaw, 52.

She was accused of fleeing an accident scene.

It was unclear at first if any more charges would be brought.
