According to NOAA, which cites the most recent radar and weather advice, there is a 40–60% chance of at least six inches of snowfall in regions along and south of I-95. South Jersey is expected to have the largest snowfall accumulation. The likelihood that New Jersey and the NYC region will see five inches or more of snow this weekend is as follows, citing the
NWS Philadelphia and Mount Holly Office:
55% to 60% in South Jersey (Jersey Shore, Philadelphia area, Cape May areas)
51% in Central Jersey (Howell, Trenton regions)
36% in North Jersey (Sussex, Morris, Warren, and Bergen regions)
NYC (including the Hudson, Union, Essex, and Bergen regions): 43%
According to NOAA, there is an
80% chance of "extreme impact" in the lower part of New Jersey. This means that anticipated winter storm effects might be severe, with "very hazardous or impossible driving conditions," extensive closures, and service disruptions (like
NJ Transit).
The
National Weather Service predicts that this weekend's possible significant winter snow storm in New Jersey will begin late on Saturday night, January 24. According to NOAA, depending on the storm's speed, the snow would last through Sunday and possibly into Monday, January 26.
