How Much Snow Will New Jersey Receive This Weekend?

According to an early forecast map released by AccuWeather, a winter coastal storm that is predicted to affect the eastern U.S. this weekend could bring 1 to 3 inches of snow to most of New Jersey and up to 3 to 6 inches to far southern areas.

Snow isn't a lock, though.

Because it is difficult to estimate the storm's path at this time, forecasters from AccuWeather and the National Weather Service believe several scenarios could happen.
The National Weather Service stated early on Thursday that "the storm probability for Sunday is still quite unknown." "On Sunday and Monday, the area will be just offshore on the northwest border of a possible coastal storm."

Some weather forecast models are projecting light to moderate snow, particularly for southern New Jersey, while others are suggesting rain or even no precipitation at all this weekend.

As the storm approaches the eastern United States this weekend, forecasters anticipate having a better understanding of it.

In addition to uncertainty regarding the storm's path, experts are unsure of whether the air over New Jersey will stay cold enough to sustain all or some snow if the storm does approach our area.

According to AccuWeather, "if the storm tracks just off the coast and taps into sufficient cold air, large areas like New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia could see heavy accumulating snow."
