Icy Conditions Force Another Closure of Toms River Schools

As Ocean County continues to recover from Sunday's storm, Toms River Regional Schools staff and students will have another snow day on Tuesday.

"Due to the remaining icy conditions from the winter storm, and to ensure everyone's ongoing safety, all schools are closed Tuesday, Jan. 27," the school district stated. "All programs, rentals, and activities are canceled as well."

According to the district, adult evening education classes are canceled and the Ocean County Vocational-Technical Schools are closed on Tuesday.

There may be dangerous conditions due to icy roads and bitterly cold temperatures in the morning.

According to the National Weather Service, the region is under a cold weather advisory until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, with wind chills as low as 7 degrees below zero predicted. Low wind chills can result in hypothermia if safety measures are not followed, according to experts.
